Report: Mike Quade Out As Cubs Manager

Manager Mike Quade will not return to the Chicago Cubs in 2012, according to a tweet from Major League Baseball’s official account.

Quade signed a two-year deal to be the Cubs manager last season. He led the Chicago squad to a 71-91 record in 2011. The 54-year-old narrowly beat out former Cubs star Ryne Sandberg for the position.

The Cubs have undergone a major shake-up in their front office in recent weeks with the acquisition of former Boston Red Sox general manager Theo Epstein. Quade reportedly met with Epstein and the Cubs’ new general manager Jed Hoyer last week for several hours.

This was Quade's first MLB managing position. He had previously served as a coach for both the Cubs and the Oakland Athletics.
