San Francisco 49ers defensive end Justin Smith was fined $15,000 for a hit against Colt McCoy in a 20-10 victory over the Cleveland Browns, according to NBC Sports.
Smith reportedly struck the Browns quarterback in the “head and neck area,” in the fourth quarter of last weekend’s game. The infraction also drew a penalty at the time.
The 32-year-old has 4.5 sacks this season in seven games for the 49ers. He has also two forced fumbles.
The two-time Pro-Bowlers has played four seasons for San Francisco after spending seven seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals. His best season came last year when he tallied 8.5 sacks for the 49ers.
