Yankees Sign Lefty Mike O'Connor

The New York Yankees have signed free agent left-handed reliever Mike O’Connor, according to a tweet from SI’s John Heyman.

The 31-year-old spent most of his time in the minor leagues last season for Triple-A Buffalo, O’Conner recorded a 5-5 record in 39 appearances and posted a 5.22 ERA, but made nine appearances in the majors for the Mets.

O’Connor appeared in 20 games as a starter for the Washington Nationals in 2006, posting a 3-8 record with a 4.80 ERA. In his major league stint with the Mets last season, O’Connor posted a 2.70 ERA and eight strikeouts in 6.2 innings pitched.
