Last season in 65 games between the Toronto Blue Jays and the St. Louis Cardinals Dotel posted a 5-4 record with three saves and a 3.50 ERA. The veteran right hander notched 62 strikeouts in 54 innings pitched. In his 13 seasons as a professional he has played for 12 MLB teams.

The Tigers won the American League Central last season after posting a 95-67 record. Dotel will join an already well-established bullpen featuring closer Jose Valverde and set-up man Joaquin Benoit.
