Grizzlies Waive Veteran Big Man Brian Skinner
Brian Skinner's stint with the Memphis Grizzlies didn't last long.
After signing with the Grizz on Dec. 10 and appearing in just one regular-season game, Skinner was waived today, according to Memphis GM Chris Wallace. The 35-year-old power forward finishes his time with the Grizzlies with a total of zero points, zero rebounds and zero assists in four minutes of work Monday, in a loss to the San Antonio Spurs.
Skinner's departure is notable because the Grizzlies are severely lacking frontcourt depth this season behind stud post scorers Zach Randolph and Marc Gasol. With Darrell Arthur out for the year with a torn Achilles and now Skinner gone, a bulk of the workload will fall to Dante Cunningham, a second-round draft pick out of Villanova in 2009. The former Blazer and Bobcat logged 17 minutes against the Spurs on Monday, finishing 4-of-6 for eight points.
