Report: Memphis Negotiating To Join Big East By 2013

Tuesday February 7th, 2012

Memphis University and the Big East are currently in the final stages of negotiations that would result in the Tigers becoming an all-sports member of the conference in 2013, according to CBS Sports.

Memphis is currently a member of Conference USA. Adding Memphis would give the Big East 17 total basketball teams. The conference has been looking to add schools since Syracuse, Pittsburgh and West Virginia left; so far, it has been reported that Navy will be joining in a football-only capacity and that Boise State, San Diego State, Houston, SMU and UCF will be joining as well.
