Cruz was scheduled for an arbitration hearing on Feb 17, where he was expected to ask for $7.5 million in rebuttal to the Rangers offering of $5.5. million. A two-year deal will allow them to avoid the arbitration process completely.

Last season Cruz played in 124 games hitting .263 with 29 home runs and 87 RBIs. He was also the MVP of the American league Champion Series hitting six home runs with 13 RBIs.
