Report: Oakland Athletics Agree To Terms With Yoenis Cespedes

The Oakland Athletics have reached an agreement to sign Cuban outfielder Yoenis Cespedes for a four-year $36 million deal, according to Yahoo! Sports.

The Miami Marlins were believed to have offered Cespedes a six-year deal worth less than $40 million. While several teams were considered to be interested in the prospect’s services, few had anticipated the Athletics to make a bid.

Cespedes is considered by many to be one of the top Cuban prospects in years. Some project the 26-year-old to develop into a power hitting centerfielder at the Major League level. It is believed that he will demand a contract higher than the $30.25 million deal given to Aroldis Chapman in 2010.
