The New York Yankees have been in search of a left-handed designated hitter, and sources close to the situation have indicated that ex-Philadelphia Phillies slugger Raul Ibanez is at the top of their list, according to ESPNNewYork.com. The Yankees were also reportedly interested in Johnny Damon, but the report states that Ibanez is desired over the ex-Yankee.

The Yankees saved $13 million when they shipped AJ Burnett to the Pittsburgh Pirates, and they will use that money to sign Ibanez, according to the report.
