Indians' Grady Sizemore Undergoes Back Surgery, Will Miss 8-12 Weeks

The injury woes continue for Grady Sizemore -- the Cleveland Indians announced today that their star outfielder has undergone back surgery and will miss eight to 12 weeks.

Sizemore underwent a minimally invasive procedure this morning on his lower back. The surgery was performed by Dr. Barth Green of the University of Miami School of Medicine; Sizemore is now expected to return to Arizona and begin the rehab process.

"I feel bad for him," Indians manager Manny Acta told MLB.com. "Obviously, it seems like he can't catch a break over the last couple of years."

Sizemore has been hampered by injuries for much of the last three years. He played in just 71 games last season, hitting an anemic .224 with 10 home runs.
