Boston Red Sox starting pitcher Josh Beckett may miss his first start, according to a tweet from Michael Silverman of the Boston Herald.
Aceves just told us he was told by Valentine that Beckett has a thumb issue that might require Aceves to start for Beckett in Game 2 #RedSox— Michael Silverman (@MikeSilvermanBB) April 2, 2012
#RedSox confirm that Beckett has a thumb issue. He is en route to doc in San Antonio, then to Detroit. BobbyV to explain all at 11 a.m.— Michael Silverman (@MikeSilvermanBB) April 2, 2012
It is unclear what the issue with Beckett’s thumb is, however the All-Star hurler has had issues with blisters on his pitching hand throughout his career. He has only pitched 200 innings or more three times in his 11-year career.
