Magic's Hedo Turkoglu Needs Surgery For Facial Fracture, Will Miss Three Weeks
Orlando Magic forward Hedo Turkoglu has a facial fracture and will require surgery, according to the Associated Press. He is expected to miss at least the final three weeks of the regular season.
Turkoglu was guarding Carmelo Anthony during Thursday night's game against the New York Knicks; Anthony inadvertently hit Turkoglu in the face while driving to the basket. Turkoglu was bloodied and had to leave the game. He did not return.
Turkoglu's surgery is scheduled for today, and he will be re-evaluated after three weeks to determine his playoff availability. The 33-year-old forward has averaged 10.7 points, 4.5 assists and 3.8 rebounds this season. Orlando is 32-23, in sixth place in the Eastern Conference, heading into tonight's game against the Philadelphia 76ers.
