Red Sox SS Mike Aviles Denies Reported Spring Training Incident With Bobby Valentine

Boston Red Sox shortstop Mike Aviles denied a New York Daily News article which reported that manager Bobby Valentine "got all over" the shortstop while doing in-field drills during spring training, according to Boston's WEEI Sports Radio.

"I don't know where that came from," said Aviles to WEEI. "I don't remember any incident like that. ... There was nothing that comes to mind that would be anything like that other than just normal player/coach interaction."

The New York Daily News article indicated that Valentine was then confronted by Avile's teammates about the incident.  However, when Aviles was asked if Valentine had done anything that would have warranted an apology, the player said, "No."

Under new manager Bobby Valentine, the Red Sox have faced an incredibly shaky start to the season with 4-10 record. Now, in an attempt to snap a five-game losing streak, the Red Sox hit the road for seven games, as they begin a three-game series with the Minnesota Twins at Target Field tonight.
