Giants Place Aubrey Huff On 15-Day DL With Anxiety Disorder

The San Francisco Giants have placed first baseman Aubrey Huff on the 15-day disabled list -- but not with a physical ailment, per se. Huff has been diagnosed with an anxiety order, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

“Obviously, we’re putting Huff on the DL," Giants manager Bruce Bochy said. "The reason is he had an episode of anxiety. He’s gotten some treatment, and he’ll continue to get treatment. He’s going to meet us in San Francisco when we get back, but we can’t keep going short.”

Huff abruptly left the team after Saturday's loss to the New York Mets; the reason wasn't made public until today. Bochy said Huff texted him Monday morning and said he needed to return home to Tampa.

Huff has struggled at the plate this season, hitting just .182 with one home run and four RBIs.
