Report: Johnny Damon Makes Indians' Big-League Roster

Monday April 30th, 2012

After signing a minor league contract with the Cleveland Indians three weeks ago, Johnny Damon is now ready to join the big club, according to the Associated Press. Damon will join the Tribe tomorrow for a three-game series in Chicago.

Damon originally signed on April 17 -- now that he's made the team, he's due to make $1.25 million over one year.

The 38-year-old outfielder has spent the last couple of weeks at the Indians' training facility in Goodyear, Ariz.; while the team was originally planning to season him in the minors for a little while, the anemic Indians have decided they need the offense right away. Damon hit .261 for the Tampa Bay Rays last season with 16 home runs and 73 RBIs.
