Report: Yankees' Brian Cashman Says Mariano Rivera Will Return In 2013

Mariano Rivera is out for the season with a torn ACL and torn meniscus, but reports of his career's demise were greatly exaggerated. New York Yankees GM Brian Cashman says Rivera will be back in 2013, according to Bryan Hoch of MLB.com.

"All the reports I got, it's all about next year," Cashman said. "What he's got is correctable. At a date yet to be scheduled, they'll have surgery and fix it, he'll go through the rehab process and we'll have the player next year."

Rivera tore the ACL and meniscus in his right knee on Thursday while fielding batting practice in the outfield in Kansas City. A complication was found Monday after analyzing the knee, but Cashman maintains that "it doesn't affect next year at all."
