Reds' Scott Rolen Back On DL With Shoulder Injury

Cincinnati Reds third baseman Scott Rolen is back on the 15-day disabled list with a sore left shoulder, according to the Associated Press.

Rolen, 37, had surgery to clean out the shoulder last August but still hasn't fully recovered. The shoulder pain has been a chronic problem in the latter years of his career.

"I called them today and said this isn't working, I'm hurting, I'm in pain," Rolen said. "I'm not healthy right now. As much as I want to help the team, I'm hurting the team."

Rolen has had a miserable season so far, hitting .174 with two home runs and 11 RBIs, but he's still hoping to return and be productive this season.

"I don't see this as a real long-term thing," Rolen said. "It's not like a surgical procedure or anything like going down that road again. I've had a tough time with it. I'm in a bad spot with it right now."
