Luke McCown to join New Orleans Saints' minicamp

The New Orleans Saints are bracing for the worst-case scenario. If contract negotiations with quarterback Drew Brees continue to stall, the Saints would enter their preseason preparations with the unproven quarterback duo of Chase Daniel (6 career NFL completions) and Sean Canfield (0 NFL appearances).

Enter Luke McCown.

McCown played for the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2011, having been named the starter five days before the start of the regular season. He was benched after losing the team's first two games, though he did make two more appearances before the season closed.

Drafted in 2004 out of Louisiana Tech by the Cleveland Browns, McCown has also played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He has played in 20 games in eight NFL season, nine of them as a starter, amassing a career 68.5 quarterback rating.
