Central Florida will receive one-year postseason bans in football and men's basketball, among other penalties, when the NCAA announces its punishment later Tuesday. ESPN.com's Andy Katz first reported the news on Twitter.

The Knights were expected to contend for Conference USA titles in both sports this season, making the postseason bans even more significant for the school.

The NCAA began investigating Central Florida last August over alleged recruiting done by a man tied to an agent. The school's athletic director Keith Tribble resigned in November after the NCAA accused him of providing misleading information. A New York Times article from April 2011 brought to light many of the characters and alleged recruiting practices that ultimately led to the sanctions.
