Report: Penn State TE Kevin Haplea is transferring to Florida State

Wednesday August 1st, 2012

A source tells Corey Dowlar of that Penn State tight end Kevin Haplea intends to transfer to Florida State.

The 6'4", 248-pound Haplea saw action in every game last season, and Dowlar writes that Haplea's blocking played a key role in springing RB Silas Redd for more than 1,200 yards. Haplea caught just three passes for 21 yards and a touchdown in 2012.

Haplea is the fourth Nittany Lion to leave the program since NCAA sanctions were announced. He is a junior and will have two years of eligibility remaining. Nick O'Leary, the grandson of golf legend Jack Nicklaus, is expected to start at TE this fall for the Seminoles, with former defensive end Dan Hicks emerging from spring ball as the top reserve.
