Roy Oswalt demoted to bullpen, Ryan Dempster to start Thursday for Rangers

Roy Oswalt has been demoted to the bullpen in a move that shouldn't come as much of a surprise given his recent struggles and the Texas Rangers' last-minute acquisition of the Chicago Cubs' Ryan Dempster.

According to a tweet Tuesday evening from Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Dempster will start on Thursday for the Rangers' last game against the Los Angeles Angels.

In his last game against the Angels on Monday night, Oswalt gave up three home runs and eight runs overall for the Rangers. For the season, he now has an ERA of 6.49.

To put the demotion into perspective, it's been 11 years since Oswalt came in as a relief pitcher.
