Robert Nkemdiche's mom says Clemson commitment 'is not final'

Consensus No. 1 Class of 2013 football recruit Robert Nkemdiche has committed to Clemson, but his mother claims "his decision is not final."

Nkemdiche, a 6-5, 281-pound defensive end -- who also plays running back -- for nationally ranked Grayson High School (Loganville, Ga.), made Clemson fans ecstatic with his commitment in June, but programs such as Alabama, Georgia and LSU have reportedly maintained their pursuit. Ole Miss fans still hold out hope that the Rebels have a shot after signing his older brother, Denzel, last year.

In an interview scheduled to run in the Sept. 17 issue of ESPN the Magazine, Nkemdiche's mother, Beverly, said the decision is not final and she's not particularly happy with her son's commitment to Clemson.

Nkemdiche's mother lives in Nigeria where she works as a state legislator, limiting contact with her son to phone or Facebook.

Nkemdiche created a stir when he said he'd commit to Clemson if the Tigers also offered Grayson defensive back Ryan Carter. Teammate and best friend, defensive back David Kamara, is also among several Grayson players committed to Clemson.

Robert stressed his commitment to Clemson in the ESPN story.

“I’m going to Clemson. I want to make an impact and in three years go to the NFL. That’s what I’m going to do. You can put that in bold too.”
