The Cincinnati Reds will retain Dusty Baker as their manager for the next two years, the team announced today.

Baker, 63, has overseen a resurgence of the Reds franchise after over a decade in which the team failed to make the playoffs. Hired in 2007, Baker had three unsuccessful seasons in Cincinnati before three years of relative success. The Reds were one of baseball's breakout teams in 2010, winning the National League's Central Division after 15 years at or near the cellar. Though the team struggled in 2011, the Reds came back strong this past season, again winning the NL Central and advancing to the playoffs.
