NFL ref receives a hefty fine for swearing

Saturday November 17th, 2012

NFL referee Tony Corrente was fined  by the NFL for his use of an expletive on an open microphone during the recent Doplphins-Colts game.

Corrente was discussing the spotting of the ball when he swore at an official while his mic was accidentally left on. The offending one-liner will cost Corrente an entire paycheck.

"There was, (expletive)," Corrente yelled.

A CBS play-by-play announcer quickly apologized for the foul language, saying  Corrente didn't know his microphone was on. The NFL made it clear that the league did not appreciate the profanity:

"This conduct is inappropriate for a game official," the league wrote in a statement. "Corrente has apologized to the Colts' organization and we are confident it will not happen again."
