Casey Pachall back at TCU after seeking substance-abuse treatment
Former TCU quarterback Casey Pachall has returned to the university and is back on the Horned Frogs football team, his father and TCU coach Gary Patterson both told the Forth-Worth Star Telegram.
Pachall was suspended from the team after a DUI arrest in October and decided to enter a treatment facility for substance abuse. Patterson said that Pachall participated in team meetings on Sunday and "did everything we wanted him to do" in order to rejoin the team.
"He looks great," Patterson told the paper. "It's like he looked when he was a freshman. Right now, we feel really good about this. It's never going to be 100 percent perfect but there is a chance we did the right thing and made a difference. You've got to understand, everybody is going to be watching on this."
Pachall is expected to be given an opportunity to earn back his starting job. But he has not "lifted weights or thrown a ball in several months," Patterson said.
