Alex Rodriguez will not join Yankees in spring training

Alex Rodriguez, still recovering from hip surgery, will not join his teammates in Tampa during spring training, reports CBS Sports. Rodriguez is also dealing with the fallout from the Miami Times report that had him linked to PED use between 2009 to 2011:

So perhaps because of comfort level or perhaps because he doesn't want to be a distraction, A-Rod won't be attending Yankees spring training in Tampa... He'll continue the rehab process in New York. As manager Joe Girardi said, A-Rod's still on crutches.

The New York Post's Joel Sherman suggested that A-Rod's absence might be more about the PED distraction rather than the hip injury:
