Cubs place infielder Darwin Barney on DL

The Chicago Cubs have placed second baseman Darwin Barney on the 15-day disabled list with a laceration on his left knee. Barney injured his knee on Saturday chasing a fly ball an exhibition Spring Training game against the Houston Astros. He received five stitches and was placed on the disabled list as a precaution.

Brent Lillibridge took Darwin's place in the starting lineup at second base today against the Pittsburgh Pirates. The 27-year-old middle infielder played in 156 games and batted .254 with seven home runs and 44 RBIs last year for the Cubs.
