Reports: Rick Pitino, Jerry Tarkanian elected to Basketball Hall of Fame

Louisville coach Rick Pitino and legendary former UNLV coach Jerry Tarkanian have been elected to the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame according to reports.

The 2013 inductees are scheduled to be officially announced Monday at the NCAA Tournament Final Four in Atlanta. The coaches were among 12 finalists considered for induction.

Pitino, 60, will coach Louisville against Wichita State in Saturday's semifinal, with the winner to face either Syracuse or Michigan in the Monday final. It's Pitino's seventh Final Four team. The only coach to lead three schools to the semifinals won his only national title with Kentucky in 1996. Pitino's career NCAA record is 662-239.

Tarkanian, 82, coached UNLV to four Final Fours and won the national championship in 1990. He was 307-42 in 10 seasons coaching the Runnin' Rebels. His college career record was 784-202 including seasons at Fresno State and Long Beach State.
