The New York Giants and wide receiver Victor Cruz have come to terms on a five-year, $43 million contract extension, according to multiple reports. Cruz's deal includes $15.6 million in guaranteed money.
The 26-year-old Cruz recently signed a one-year, $2.879 million tender with the Giants in hopes of negotiation a longer extension. The extension and one-year tender will keep Cruz in a Giants uniform for the next six years, earning him $45.879 million for the duration of the two contracts. With Cruz signing his extension, the Giants will now turn their attention to re-signing receiver Hakeem Nicks to an extension of his own.
Cruz emerged as a pleasant surprise for the Giants when he made his debut in 2010 as an undrafted free agent out of Massachusetts. Cruz has compiled 168 receptions for 2,628 yards and 19 touchdowns through the past two seasons with the Giants.
