Seattle Sounders coach Sigi Schmid said that the team has not made a move for United States captain and Tottenham attacker Clint Dempsey.

There was speculation that Dempsey could return to the U.S. to play for Seattle, but Schmid said he hasn't talked to Dempsey or his representatives about a switch to the Sounders.

While Schmid did deny contact with Dempsey, he did say the team was looking “for somebody who can play an attacking second striker type of thing in the center of the park."

"Not at this stage that I’m aware of. I know Clint, I’ve talked to him I follow his career, but there’s nothing there that I can say right now,” Schmid told 950 KJR.

“We’re always looking for good players. You can’t ever close the door on anything, but right now there is nothing that’s nailed down and concrete.”
