Report: Dodgers, Edinson Volquez agree on deal

The Los Angeles Dodgers agreed with pitcher Edinson Volquez on a major league contract, with the deal expected to become official Thursday, reports The Los Angeles Times.

The San Diego Padres designated him for assignment last weekend and Volquez passed through waivers unclaimed and was officially released.

This season, Volquez is 9-10 with a 6.01 ERA and 116 strikeouts and 69 walks in 142 1/3 innings.

Volquez, 30, is 53-50 with a 4.77 ERA in 153 games, including 149 starts, over nine seasons with the Texas Rangers, Cincinnati Reds and the Padres.
