The agent for Ricky Nolasco said Thursday the free-agent right-hander has received multiple four-year contract offers, according to a Yahoo! Sports report.
Nolasco also has received multiple three-year offers, the agent told Jeff Passan.
The 30-year-old entered the market slotted by many to be a notch below marquee free agents such as Matt Garza, Ubaldo Jimenez and Ervin Santana. Multi-year offers to the likes of Nolasco, whose 3.70 ERA in 2013 is well below his career average 4.37 ERA, could foretell blockbuster offers for better pitchers.
"I believe the market for multiple-year starting pitching will start to reveal itself more clearly in the next two to three weeks," agent Matt Sosnick said, and that market is a bullish reflection of how revenue growth in the game is trickling down to players.was traded to the Dodgers
While Sosnick declined to name the teams or size of the contracts, one league source said he believed the starting price on Nolasco "is Edwin Jackson money" (four years, $52 million) and "may end up at Derek Lowe" (four years, $60 million).
