The Miami Marlins agreed to a three-year, $21 million contract with free-agent catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia, according to CBSSports.com's Jon Heyman.

Saltalamacchia, a switch hitter, batted .273 with 14 homers and 65 RBIs with the Boston Red Sox last season, helping them win the World Series.

Saltalamacchia, 29, is from West Palm Beach, Fla., so signing with the Marlins would put him near his hometown.
