Green Bay Packers linebacker Clay Matthews will be out for Sunday's season finale against the Chicago Bears after re-injuring his broken right thumb, the team announced.

Matthews hurt the thumb in Week 5 and missed four games before being injured again in last week's game loss against the Pittsburgh Steelers after he sacked quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.

The Packers' game against the Bears is for the NFC North Division title and a playoff spot.

The Packers had Christmas Day off and will return to practice Thursday, when the team is expected to announce whether quarterback Aaron Rodgers is ready to return after missing seven weeks with a broken collarbone.
