Russell Wilson tweets that he'll attend Rangers spring training in March

Now that he has a Super Bowl championship in hand, Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson will try his hand at baseball — at least for a day.

Even though he won't be starting a second career, Wilson announced via Twitter on Thursday that he would join the Texas Rangers at their Spring Training facility on March 3. Wilson tweeted a photo of himself wearing a No. 3 Rangers jersey, while he held another Rangers jersey showing his name on the back.

Here's Wilson's tweet:

Wilson was selected by the Rangers in December's Rule 5 draft. His agent said recently that he planned to make an appearance at Spring Training.

Wilson, who played second base, was taken twice during the MLB amateur draft — once in 2007 by the Baltimore Orioles before he chose to attend college, and then as a 2010 fourth-rounder by the Colorado Rockies. He played two seasons in the Rockies' minor-league system — one with the short-season Class-A Tri-City Dust Devils and another with the Class-A Asheville Tourists.
