Ryan Giggs, currently the interim manager of Manchester United, has been offered the job of assistant manager with the club, according to a report Wednesday from Richard Jolly of ESPN.

The 40-year-old Giggs met with Louis van Gaal at Hotel Oranje in Noordwijk, Holland on Wednesday. Van Gaal will be named Manchester United's next manager, replacing David Moyes, who was ousted on April 22. Giggs must now decide whether to keep playing or work under the new manager.

According to the report, Giggs is seen by front office executives as someone who could in time become manager of the club. Van Gaal will become Manchester United's second manager in as many seasons.

Giggs is considered one of the greatest players in Manchester United history. He made a record 963 appearances in 24 seasons for Manchester United and won 12 English top-flight league titles with the club.
