U.S. striker Jozy Altidore will not play against Portugal

The United States national team has confirmed striker Jozy Altidore will miss the team's match against Portugal on Sunday with a hamstring injury.

Altidore left the U.S. win over Ghana in the 23rd minute after falling to the ground clutching his left hamstring. Reports had been doubtful that he would be ready to play for the team's second match.

There is still a chance that Altidore could return during the World Cup, with Jurgen Klinsmann telling reporters that the team was "full of hope that he comes back in this tournament," according to USA Today's Kelly Whiteside.
