The Philadelphia 76ers are “very much interested” in selecting Kansas center Joel Embiid with the No. 3 overall pick in the upcoming NBA Draft — if he falls that far.

The Philadelphia Daily News’ Bob Cooney reported Sunday that the Sixers are intrigued by Embiid, whose stock has fallen somewhat after he suffered a recent foot injury requiring surgery.

Embiid, the projected No. 1 pick in’s latest mock draft could very well be still available at the No.3 pick. One Western Conference executive told’s Chris Mannix that he “wouldn’t take him in the top 10″ after his injury. And now, the Cleveland Cavaliers are reportedly “leaning toward” selecting Duke’s Jabari Parker with the first overall pick in the draft, according to CBS Sports’ Ken Berger.

Adding Embiid as a complement to Nerlens Noel — who was also projected to be the No. 1 pick before tearing his ACL and falling to the Sixers last year — would give the Sixers a talented young frontcourt if and when both players are healthy.
