Fenerbahçe preparing move for Sevilla's Kanouté

Fenerbahçe is preparing to offer Frédéric Kanouté around $6 million per year to join it and head off interest for the striker from Serie A giant Juventus.

The Turkish outfit wants the Mali international to be its major summer signing and is hoping to persuade the player to ask for a move by tempting him with a huge personal deal.

Sevilla is accustomed to its players being the subject of continuous rumors and speculation and the latest reports linking Kanouté with a move will not derail the club's quest to reach the Champions League again.

Juve has maintained its interest in the former West Ham and Tottenham forward, but would not consider making another offer of $28 million, as it was reported to have done last summer.

A move to Turkey could tempt Kanouté due to his strong Muslim beliefs and the club is ready to give him anything that he requires should he open talks about a move.

The Andalucian outfit's president, José Maria del Nido, will take slightly more persuading as he has become very proficient at fending off the advances of wealthier clubs who want his stars.

Dani Alves, Diego Capel, Christian Poulsen and Luis Fabiano have all been linked with summer moves away from the Sánchez Pizjuán, but every interested party knows that they would have to pay above market value for each player.

Another thing that Fenerbahçe does have on its side is the fact that Sevilla recognizes that Kanouté's stock will not rise any further and this could be the last summer when big money could be demanded for his services.
