Adam Cristman underwent surgery to repair a fracture to his fractured fifth metatarsal last Friday, and the Kansas City Wizards have announced the the procedure was a successful one. The striker is expected to be out a further 10 to 12 weeks for the injury to heal.

The Wizards brought in Cristman after the 2008 season to bolster their lightweight attack. The 24-year-old scored six goals last season for the New England Revolution in an injury-plagued year.

The Wizards' offense will be boosted in their opening game of the 2009 season against Toronto FC by the return of Herculez Gomez. He has appeared in the last three preseason matches for Kansas City, and should slot in on the right flank.
