With Liguilla still possible, Jaguares sack Brindisi

Despite still having life in the Clausura 2009 season, Jaguares de Chiapas sacked manager Miguel Angel Brindisi with one game remaining in the regular season.

Jaguares, though, suffered through an embarrassing loss on Saturday in what would be Brindisi's final game. Ciapas lost 5-1 at Pachuca.

Jaguares went 5-6-5 with Brindisi and had one of the league's better defenses before Pachuca shredded the club on Saturday. Still, despite their bad season, Jaguares have several possibilities of reaching the postseason. If they beat Cruz Azul and Atlas lose or tie to Pachuca, they are in.

This was Brindisi's first season in charge of Jaguares, who went through two managers in the Apertura 2008 season when they failed to make the playoffs.

Former manager Luis Fernando Tena has been linked to the open position. --Goal.com
