Manchester City is ready to confirm its $24.8 million capture of striker Roque Santa Cruz, according to reports in the Manchester Evening News.

The Blackburn Rovers forward has been priority target for City since manager Mark Hughes made the switch to Eastlands from Ewood Park last summer.

The Paraguayan hitman has been keen on linking up with his former boss and the deal is set to be completed on Monday, according to the newspaper.

Santa Cruz is currently on holiday but is due to complete a medical with City upon his return to England and the deal will subsequently be complete.

The 28-year-old signed for Blackburn in a $5.8 million deal from German giant Bayern Munich, where he scored 38 goals in 147 appearances.
