Almost 1,000 supporters came to greet Bari's likely new owner, Tim Barton, on Monday after he landed at the Palese airport.

The American businessman, who is head of Texas-based investment company JMJ Holdings, has a good chance of successfully concluding negotiations with current president Vincenzo Materrese in the near future, if reports in the media are to be believed.

"I came here to achieve dreams for the Barese, by tomorrow I want to end negotiations," he said upon his arrival, according to Goal.com Italia. "I love this city and Bari's fans, my e-mail is full of messages from them!"

Bari has regained its Serie A status for the first time since 2001, but has struggled to make moves on the transfer market this summer. It faces Serie A champions Inter Milan in their opening match of the league season on Aug. 23.
