Former Ajax and AC Milan midfielder Edgar Davids will not be signing for Championship club Leicester City after the club failed to agree a deal to sign the former Champions League winner.

Davids, 36, is currently a free agent, after leaving Ajax in May 2008.

Leicester chairman Milan Mandaric, who was adamant that the transfer was not a publicity stunt, declared he was disappointed with the outcome.

"Unfortunately we were not able to come to an agreement with Edgar and his representatives," Mandaric told the club's official Web site. We have decided not to take this matter further and wish Edgar luck in the future."
