Tottenham's Modric out for two weeks after surgery

LONDON (Reuters) -- Tottenham Hotspur's Croatia midfielder Luka Modric will be out for two weeks after having his appendix removed.

He was "diagnosed with acute appendicitis after contacting our medical staff complaining of abdominal discomfort," the club said on their website ( on Wednesday.

The 25-year-old has been in good form again this season, helping Spurs reach the last 16 of the Champions League and maintain a challenge to finish in the top four of the Premier League.

Fifth-placed Tottenham travel to Blackburn Rovers on Wednesday suffering from an injury-crisis with several players missing including most of their defence.
