BERLIN (AP) -- Bundesliga leader Borussia Dortmund says Japan midfielder Shinji Kagawa will miss two to three weeks after tearing a ligament in his left ankle.

Dortmund says Kagawa sustained the injury in training on Wednesday, ruling him out of the league games at Hertha Berlin on Saturday and at home against Hannover the following weekend.

The club expects him to be available for the game against Mainz on March 3.

Kagawa has been in good form since being asked to fill in for injured playmaker Mario Goetze in December, helping Dortmund go unbeaten in 15 games.

The 22-year-old Kagawa scored the winning goal in a 1-0 win against Leverkusen last weekend.

Goetze is expected to be out for at least another month.
