Christie Rampone considering playing through 2015 World Cup

NEW YORK (AP) -- U.S. women's soccer captain Christie Rampone is no longer so sure she'll retire after the London Olympics.

Her coaches are trying to persuade the 36-year-old defender to play through the 2015 World Cup in Canada. Rampone will turn 40 that summer.

The mother of two young girls is considering the possibility because she still feels at the top of her game. But Rampone will need to take some time after London to decide because of the strain all that travel puts on her family.

Rampone was in New York on Thursday for an event with U.S. Olympic Committee sponsor Citi. The company is donating $500,000 that fans will help allocate through social media to sports programs supported by Rampone and other athletes.
