BAGHDAD (AP) -- Zico says he is resigning as coach of Iraq's national soccer team because of a contract breach.

In a statement posted on his official website, Zico says his decision results from the failure of the Iraqi soccer association to live up to its commitments in the former Brazil great's contract.

Officials in the IFA declined to comment Wednesday.

Last month, Zico said he was owed four months of pay by the IFA, adding that he was disappointed by the lack of consideration for his work.

He took over as coach of the team in August 2011.
