Spanish football club Real Sociedad will honor its fans by bearing the names of individual club members on the shirts of its players instead of paid advertising.

Sociedad calls the fan-appreciation initiative "We carry you on our shirts.''

The names of club members are selected at random. A group of 22 were already selected for a televised commercial, and the names of another 22 have been chosen to appear on the front of the players' shirts for Thursday's match at Anoeta stadium against visiting Sevilla.

Sociedad enters the game in ninth place in the Spanish league standings and is unbeaten in six rounds.

The San Sebastian-based club has around 25,000 club members.
