MONTEVIDEO, Uruguay (AP) -- Luis Suarez is suggesting that he expects to stay at Liverpool, which is refusing to let him move to English rival Arsenal.

Speaking to the Uruguayan newspaper El Observador from Tokyo, where Uruguay is preparing to play a friendly match against Japan, Suarez indicated he would remain in northwest England.

Suarez told the newspaper: "For now, because of all the affection of the people, I would be staying.''

Suarez has been at the heart of transfer speculation over the English summer. He scored 30 times last season for Liverpool, but has indicated that he wants to move to a club competing in the Champions League.
